In essence, two standard screw conveyors assembled at a 90-degree angle make up a screw elevator. It has two halves, one vertical and one horizontal, and each is powered by a separate motor. These are typically employed when clearance for release is a problem. For us, these are typically employed to move chilled food from the cooler to the following stage of the process and to feed counterflow coolers.
Because screw elevators have fewer moving components and are simpler to maintain, they often require less maintenance than bucket elevators, despite their higher initial cost. The steel construction of the auger makes them more appropriate for high-temperature applications.
